Razor A2 Scooter
Built into the design of the most popular kick scooter in the world, the Razor A2 Scooter, is the low to the ground deck which makes balance easier and maneuvering easy to learn. And the best thing of all is the durability of this toy. The bearings will wear out before anything breaks, and those are easily replaced. In fact, the most colorful thing about this scooter are the wheels. They come in a variety of colors and are interchangeable. Plan on this scooter lasting at least 5 years. And remember that you’ll probably go through a set of wheels in that time.
The Razor A2 Scooter isn’t made for adults, even though many will want to jump on to try it out. It comes with a wheelie bar that prevents kids from tipping back too far when trying to do some of the advanced tricks. But it can handle a lot of weight. In fact, many adults buy these to travel within the city and then slip it into a backpack and out of site. And the price tag on the A2 can’t be beat. Plan on spending around $40 including shipping to your door. Don’t think that these are unproven and unsafe.
Early models of kick scooters were a little dangerous because the handles did not lock well into the stem of the unit. While scooting, the handle would feel loose and it was easy to lose your balance. The Razor A2 Scooter is modern and the handlebar locks right into the stem using a positive locking nub. The stem is locked just like your bicycle seat with the clamp system. The frame can hold a lot of weight, much more than Razor lists – so adults can try it out, but beware you may break the platform. The scooter is a great way for the kids to get out of the house and on the street. And they are a ton of fun every day.
One nice safety feature is the brake which does a good job, especially when kids get on inclines and the scooter starts picking up speed. As for tricks, your child can start learning some on the Razor A2 scooter, but Razor makes Pro versions specifically for this market. The suspension and the wheelie bar, as I mentioned, don’t make for the best trick scooter. Still, you will find that this makes a great gift for pre-teens or young teens. And don’t leave it at home. This A2 scooter can fold up and ride in the trunk wherever you head to in town. Made for the weather, it can stand being left in the elements for days.
Make sure you get a nice helmet and elbow and knee pads for starters. They will be a good investment for any kid that rides the Razor A2 Scooter. Everyone reports on what a smooth ride this scooter delivers. You never have to pump up tires. Never needs a kick stand. And there isn’t a chain to fuss with. Your child won’t outgrow the A2 in a month or so, or even a year. This makes an excellent gift.
